Loading ...I attended a very interesting meeting in Swaffham this week.
The Portuguese Ambassador to the UK His Excellency Mr. Antonio Santana Carlos together with the Portuguese Consulate Mr. Macedo Leao and the local Consular representative Mr. Antonio Choca were here to meet local representatives to visit some of their nationals living locally as well as some of the people who are helping them.
We have as many as 25,000 portuguese in Norfolk at any one time, mostly working in the agricultural industries.
Swaffham is a hub town with strong links with the church and nearby convent.
The meeting was held in an very smart new Community Centre built through the Iceni Partnership.
I haven’t often been to Swaffham and am looking forward to learning more about it. More famously known to many perhaps now as where the TV series Kingdom is filmed.
