We want a petition! I live on Sycamore Way which at the moment is a nice quiet cul de sac. If this new development was to go ahead it would go from said quiet cul de sac to being joined to an over 100 (I hear more like 170) home estate bringing with it a number of issues. It would start right from the building stage bringing lorries & diggers through an established estate for at least 2 years. Our children just wouldn't be safe to play near their homes anymore, and as the estate is mostly made up of families and retired persons it would affect everyone in a negative way. Once the houses are finished an extra 100 cars plus passing through a narrow road not designed for that volume of traffic would continue to make it unsafe for our children as well as noisier permanently. I didn't pay a premium to live in a nice area of Diss that is safe for my child to have that taken away by Persimmon. I didn't buy a house on a through road. If push comes to shove access from Vinces Road is preferable, however do we really need another 100+ houses? Can the schools cope with it? Persimmon are renowned for not providing enough parking, their last estate in Diss took 2-3 years to finish and the children had to wait 2 years for their park to be opened. Plus I don't really want to look out of my bedroom windows and see flats whilst at the moment I see trees & fields where I walk my dog. Who would? This developent and their access plans are wrong on all levels and should be stopped altogether.
